BHAKAR VADI (SPICED GRAM FLOUR SAVOURY)
A savoury snack from the western Indian state of Gujarat.

INGREDIENT:
Gram flour - 250 gm.
Wheat flour - 175 gm.
Chilli powder - 5 gm.
Turmeric powder - 2.5 gm.
Sesame seeds - 3.5 gm.
Roasted peanuts - 7 gm.
(powder)
Grated dry coconut
- 5 gm.
Garlic paste - 8 gm.
Cumin seeds - 1.5 gm.
Coriander seeds - 1.5 gm.
Minced onions - 55 gm.
Oil for frying.
Salt to taste.

METHOD:
Mix the gram flour, whole white flour, chilli powder, turmeric and salt. Add water and knead to a stiff dough. Mix onion, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, peanut powder, dry coconut and garlic paste to prepare the filling. Make lemon sized balls of the dough and equal size portions of the filling. Roll out large discs of each ball of dough and spread the filling on these. Roll into cylinders with dough on the outside. Cut into equal pieces. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry all pieces till crisp. Serve with sweet chutney.
